Celebrating Death of Ravan

Congratulations and Celebrations !!!!The inevitable happens again and again, victory of Good over Evil. As we celebrate the death of Ravan lets not forget to pick up the lessons for this is just death of the symbol, the manifestations and the seeds he has sown of the bitter fruit which will ripen in future will affect posterity. These lessons will empower us to bring such Ravans to book faster than we did this one which gives them less time to propogate their schools of thought and action.

Ravan was a super hero fighting a super power defeated because of dastardly intent but one needs to understand what constituted his heroism and assess him in an objective light. There were of course the qualities of relentless dedication to purpose, single minded resolve, courage of his convictions and an uncanny knack of strategizing his existence in the face of death that lurked around him for such a long time.

Just imagine if such Ravans were used to set up a committee and asked to make strategies to unravel more like them or our corrupt politicians they would perform much better than our regular teams. We do not have dearth of intelligence or strategists but these people have the experience of living those strategies from the other side of the table plus they are live examples of how the enemy’s mind works in a negative strain. This would be the shortest and easiest way to leverage their negative energies and convert them for positive intent I think.

Every time I read your post I wonder how much maturity of thoughts and deep thinking you bring in your posts. Congratulations.

Ravan is portrayed as symbol of evil because of his one act. in other departments like vigor, wealth, courage, knowledge etc he was supreme. He was upset because he could not lift the Shiv Bow in the swayamvar and had to feel ashamed .
The learning is simple, however great you may be, just be careful of small let downs, indiscretions and injury to your pride. In order to get "that" small piece that you feel you were destined for can take away everything. The recent examples of doyens from the corporate world, sports icon and many others, who are not treated as the likes of politicians, businessmen etc just proves the point that thier small greed, lust and whatever was their own Ravans that reared its head at the wrong time and their golden Lanka was destroyed. They were lucky that they had a backing of legal system tofinght and of course 45 gms of tea with two pieces of bread every day morning.

"Ravan was a super hero"? Really?? One can probably find some quality in just about everyone. But "super hero"? That's no way to evaluate anyone in "an objective light", let alone Ravan. At best, the blog seems to (very naively) suggest that let's get into their heads and understand Ravans to get them to work for the good, and at worst the blog seems to be eulogizing Ravan. This isn't some fair game of mind and strategy. Remember, catching Ravan takes whole different level of political strategy, effort, and time when Ravan is being sheltered and protected by a government. Hindsight is 20/20 and yes everything can be improved.

Blog suggests setting up a committee of Ravans "would be the shortest and easiest way to leverage their negative energies and convert them for positive intent" This is hardly "maturity of thoughts and deep thinking" as the other comment states, this is more like a naive child's day dream!

You ARE what you think you are :) said...

I am delighted to see the comments and thanks. Clearly shows diverse ways we think.

When we say Ravan as a super hero the adjective is used in the sense of the perception of people who endorsed his way of thinking. Remember there are parts of the world that he is still worshipped. Realities do not exist in complete black or white.
The idea is to learn and grow even from forces which are negative that equips one better and only by understanding the nuances of the negative we can conquer it better.
One need not feel hurt that the post in anyway undermined the efforts that went into catching Ravan. All those efforts are appreciated world over. This is not to eulogize Ravan but to learn from the positive attributes the negative force used and put them to irradicate the same negativity around....
Also setting up the committee that is referred here is already happening in some parts of the world. Its a method to harness positive from the negative thereby turning the negative upon its head.
Its only with the background of darkness the light or brightness shines better. Because if Ravan was not there we would not understand Shri Ram in such depth.
These are my child like thoughts.
